Charakteristika vinařství v zemi

Rakousko má v pěstování vinné révy poměrně dlouhou tradici. Réva se tam pěstovala již před zhruba 5000 lety, vinařský věhlas mělo území Rakouska, již v roce 700 př.n.l., po stagnaci obnovil zašlou slávu rakouského vinohradnictví Karek I. Veliký . V 15. století se o vinařství starali mniši. Na sklonku 19. století udeřili nejprve silné mrazy, pak houbová choroba a nakonec révokaz. Po 1.světové válce, když už rakouské vinařství bylo samostatné, začala velká regenerace. V 80. letech 20.století měla rakouská vína kvalitativní problémy. Nyní si rakouská vína vydobila zpět svoje postavení mezi kvalitními producenty vína.

Grüner Veltliner, Welsch Riesling, Müller- Thurgau, Neuburger, Traminer, Zierfandler, Zweigeltrerbe, Blauer Potugieser, BlauFränkisch, Saint Laurent

 

Charakteristika oblasti

Kontinentální podnebí doplňují dobré půdní podmínky. Z geologického hlediska jsou zajímavé lokality, kde se réva pěstuje poblíž nalezišť železné rudy. Ale také nalezneme půdu sopečnou, vápenitou a nebo břidlici, slín a písek v Burglandu. Významnou roli zde hraje rovněž nadmořská výška hranic - ve většině oblastí se vinohrady rozkládají ve výšce 200-400 m.n.m. Když tyto podmínky doplní rakouská preciznost, vznikájí tělnatá a charakterní vína.

 

Oficiální kategorizace

Vyznat se v rakouské klasifikaci není jednoduché. Zdější vína se třídí podle původu hroznů či vín a podle odrůdy révy, výrobního postupu, jakostních požadavků, cukernatosti moštů a chuti vína. Základní členění:

Tafelwein - stolní vína

Landwein - zemská vína

Qualitätswein - jakostní vína

Kabinett - kabinetní víno

Prädikatswein - víno s přívlastkem.
